Therefore, it's a good bet that whoever becomes the new host of AMW will most likely not be an actor/actress.
That last bit is why I think AMW is more suitable for a retired police/sheriff. Or at the very least a passionate victim right's advocate like Walsh. |

I should mention since I don't know if this will affect plans or not but the "new" AMW I found out from a source was going to be similar to Live PD in format. It seemed that's what they were going for due to Live PD's popularity and being the (at the then-moment) trend, but obviously we're now in a different time after the show was cancelled. (Which would have been a surprise cancellation before this year). I am hoping Tom Morris is possibly available now though to become host of AMW- he is who I always wanted to take over for JW before I found out Cal wanted to be on camera as well. My dream 5 candidates if the show ever did return: 1. Cal 2. Tom Morris 3. Elizabeth Smart 4. Matt Doran 5. Myself (just kidding, possibly  ) But yeah a lot of uncertainty right now as far as AMW's possible comeback. I last talked to my source when 2020 was only in the beginning of being a sh**show so I don't have any inside information at the moment, just based on how they wanted to bring back along with the pandemic opens questions imo. |

Is Elizabeth Smart still under contract with True Crime Daily? I know she used to work for them, but I thought she did a fine job.

True Crime Daily is the website and podcast version of Crime Watch Daily which is no longer on the air as a physical tv show. So I'd think she'd be available. She seems such an obvious candidate if the show comes back but we'll see.

Well we were all way off on who the new host would be lol. In fairness, I did list news media host/investigative journalist type as a potential category for a host so Liz Vargas definitely fits there.
She's apparently hosted 20/20 and a show called "A&E Investigates" (not sure which channel that was on j/k) and was an anchor on Good Morning America. So while she might be relatively unknown to us, she's basically "famous" and popular already so there won't be a learning curve as opposed to if they had hired a less experienced host.
I'm still hoping they can bring back former AMW correspondents and/or have someone like Elizabeth Smart be a correspondent as well. We shall see.
