UPDATE: (WSET) -- A wanted Lynchburg man has been charged with additional charges after escaping police for a second time.
Lynchburg Police said an officer was parked on the 501 Expressway doing a traffic enforcement when he noticed a blue minivan weaving in and out of traffic.
The officer confirmed the blue minivan was traveling at 78 miles per hour in a posted 55 miles per hour zone.
Lynchburg Police said the officer pulled behind the car and tried to stop the driver for reckless driving.
According to the Lynchburg Police Department, the driver was identified as Andrew Mills Cox and he led the officer on a chase down 501 to Graves Mill Road to Forest Road.
The minivan circled into many parking lots and hit an occupied car in one of the lots.
Police said the officer eventually lost sight of the car but it was found a short time later crashed in the lawn of Trax International at 106 Vista Center Drive in Forest.
Police said Cox fled on foot and was seen at several locations on Saturday night.
In addition to being charged with abduction and kidnapping, breaking and entering, strangulation, and felony escaping police, Cox is also charged with the following:
Possession of a Controlled Substance
Hit and run
Eluding
Reckless driving, speeding 20+ mph
Driver not stop; unattended property damage >$250

Thoughts? Based on local articles, Cox was still at large at least as of December 16th, 2019. I don't know why they're saying there's no specific thread considering Cox's original charges and danger if he flees on the road again, but nevertheless it's always good advice to never approach a fugitive yourself and call 911 instead. A previous article stated Cox may be asking people if he can borrow their phone(s) as he doesn't have his.
