Today marks the 20 year anniversary of the infamous O.J. Simpson chase 20 years later. Just curious what posters here remember about that day if anything since everyone talks about it. This will probably either show how young or old you are today compared to then. Anyway this was during game 5 of the NBA Finals and I was in the 6th grade. I was initially annoyed because it interrupted the basketball game I was watching but I do admit it was riveting television. And we all knew how it was going to end. O.J. was going to kill himself. To everyone's surprise he didn't. This was before social media and cell phones were barely around so it does make me wonder what the heck the chase would have been like today.Twitter might have crashed! I know how much HeadMarshal hates all the sensationalism and over coverage of trials in the media such as Casey Anthony and Jodi Arias and George Zimmerman. We basically have the O.J. case to "thank" for that. But I do admit it was a crazy time and crazy case.

Inside the car, O.J. Simpson was sitting in the backseat, allegedly with a gun to his head. Al “A.C.” Cowlings, Simpson’s friend and former teammate in high school, college and the N.F.L., was at the wheel. I sure do remember this, I too was upset because it did interrupt the NBA finals. I was 16 years old, during this low speed chase. 95 million viewers watch to see if OJ would really commit suicide. All that drama and we all know the verdict...On Oct. 3, 1995, the "Trial of the Century" ended with Simpson's acquittal, with 150 million people tuning in for the verdict, making it one of the most watched events in television history. I thought the chase would of hurt him in court, running from the truth. Some say he had the best defense team of all time....
OJ NOW:
In September 2007, Simpson and several others went into a Las Vegas hotel room to get sports memorabilia Simpson said belonged to him. The men confronted the dealers and brandished weapons but did not fire them. Simpson calls CNN after verdict Simpson, now 66, said he was going after what was rightfully his, saying he regretted only bringing along men "who I didn't know and one I didn't trust."Exactly 13 years after he was acquitted in the murder trial, a jury found Simpson guilty on 12 charges, including kidnapping and armed robbery. He is serving a 33-year sentence, and will be eligible for parole in 2017.

Today's the bidecadial of the car chase? 2 decades ago, I was still being changed every few hours!
In fact, if I were as young as I looked when well-groomed and clean-shaven, you'd think that was 3-5 years before I was even born!

I think that car chase seemed to many as an admission of guilt and despite the passion of the moment most people seemed to agree he had gotten away with murder years later. It wasn't just OJ's defense team that got him off. The prosecution had done a terrible job and then there was Mark Fuhrman and the bloody glove controversy.
But I think O.J going to jail for robbery later proves karma does work itself out in the end. Even if he ever gets out his life has been a mess since the verdict and probably will continue to be.
One thing I will add though is there is a book and some articles featuring a private investigator's findings that pins the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman on O.J.'s son. There's been a lot of conspiracies about the case and in general many crime cases have conspiracy theories. But while I still think O.J. did it, I actually didn't laugh it off like I do with so many other of these theories. He did a good job of looking at the case through a different angle. Worth checking out just for a read if anyone has the time.
