Race/Sex W / M Eyes BRO Skin MBR DOB 11/20/1960 US Citizen No Height/Weight 5'06 / 185 LBS Hair BLK Build MED In Custody N Place Of Birth CL Address 4036 82ND STREET NEW YORK NY Carlos Adolfo Acosta is wanted on kidnapping charges out of Houston. He was first aired on Sep 3, 1989 and his last profile may have actually been his Final Justice airing, which I suspect was aired in early 1996. On Jun 17, 1988, Colombian cartel enforcer Carlos Acosta held several people hostage at gunpoint while he searched for $150,000 dollars worth of stolen cartel cocaine, threatening to kill all of them. He released one woman to search for the cocaine under the threat that if the drugs weren't returned, her son would be killed. She called the FBI and they raided the house with the hostages, along with a motel and a topless bar were Carlos and his fellow cartel members were located. Carlos was arrested but posted a $250,000 bond in cash, and fled. Thoughts? I managed to find one article online from 1991 about this case. It was regarding a death certificate that was ruled a fake. Authorities were notified that Acosta had died in a traffic accident in Cali, Colombia in 1989 but the DEA and FBI presented evidence that he was still alive. What's weird about this case is that sources differ on exactly what drug cartel Acosta was an enforcer for. The Final Justice airing said he worked for the Medellin Cartel while the 1991 article mentioned he worked for the Cali Cartel. Regardless, it's possible that he's dead, but if not then he may still be involved in some type of illegal activity in Colombia. news.google.com/newspapers?nid=861&dat=19910704&id=wjxSAAAAIBAJ&sjid=qTYNAAAAIBAJ&pg=7090,493426 Admin Note #1: If you have any information on this case, based on agencies who have handled this case in the past, our advice would be to please contact your nearest FBI field office or embassy or submit a web tip at tips.fbi.govAdmin Note #2: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

This actually sounds a bit similar to Victor Gerena except in that case the victims were Gerena's old co-workers. There's not much online about Acosta, leading me to believe authorities may have eventually assumed or learned he was really dead. If not, surprised the case hasn't gotten much attention this past decade.

Hi bobdobbs,
Welcome to the forum, although I'm sorry it's under these circumstances.
I do have to admit I saw your registration that you believed a fugitive on our forum tried to kidnap you as a child, I certainly wasn't expecting this fugitive to be the one you were referring to. (Was expecting like a child molestation fugitive).
I don't know what could come out of it but I would recommend contacting the FBI or Houston Crime Stoppers just in case. Maybe it wouldn't locate Acosta but it could provide a lead into any missing person cases they were investigating at the time.

Odds are, he probably will never face the charges against him here in the U.S. He is probably very well protected by the cartel he was part of in Colombia, and he is likely handling “assignments” in that area as opposed to the U.S.
