Authorities are searching for the two above suspects in connection with the murder of a five-year old boy. AMW aired the case once in 2012.
On Dec 30, 2011 at around 8:45 PM, 5-year old Gabriel Martinez Jr. was at his family's Oakland taco stand when gunshots were fired. Gabriel was struck by a bullet and died in his father's arms. Multiple witnesses saw the gunman leave in a 2006-2009 silver Chevy Impala, with at least one female inside. The gunman is described as black, was in his 20s, approximately 6ft tall, and weighed 160lbs. He had short black hair and sometimes wore glasses. The woman depicted in the above sketch is described as black, was in her early 20s, approximately 5'7 ft tall, weighed 130 lbs and had dark hair. Authorities do not know a motive for the shooting.
Thoughts? Whatever the motivation for the shooting was, it's highly unlikely that Gabriel Jr. was the target, so were his parents the target, a robbery gone bad, a case of mistaken identity? Sadly, crime is like an epidemic on the streets of Oakland. In August 2011, three-year old Carlos Nava was shot and killed while his mother pushed him in a stroller on the same street where Gabriel Jr. was murdered. Two men were arrested in that case. On Nov 28, 2011, six gunmen opened fire on a group of people taping a music video outside a liquor store, striking a total of eight people and killing one-year old Hiram Lawrence.
