The Dothan Police Department is looking for information in connection to the unsolved homicide case of Grace Ann Bridges Dedert.
Dedert was killed March 17, 2010, while working at the family-owned business, Dedert’s New and Used Furniture. Someone entered the business located at 966 S. Park Ave. in Dothan and fatally shot Dedert.
“Grace was a really good person,” said Angel House Director Shelly Linderman. “She was known for being a caring person and the loving mother to her four daughters. She was a registered nurse for years and she was always taking care of people. This family needs justice to be served. They won’t ever get closure for this, but they do deserve to have peace and to be able to move forward.”
Sadly, one of Dedert’s daughters will never see justice served for the death of her mother. Linderman said Dedert’s youngest daughter passed away a few years ago. According to Linderman, the death of her mother was just too much for the daughter.
Dothan Lt. Will Glover and Sgt. Jason Adkins have worked this case for years.
“We want to see justice served for Grace Dedert,” Glover said. “Over the past few months, new leads have been reported and I know they have been worked or being worked at this time. Every lead received is worked and worked. What we need is for someone, anyone, who saw anything on March 17, 2010, regarding the death of Grace to call. If you have heard anything regarding the death of Grace, call the department. Don’t sit on any information.”
A remembrance event for Dedert was held Friday at the Angel House. During the event Linderman and Dothan Police Investigator Curtis Stephens reminded everyone in attendance on the importance of keeping this homicide case alive.
“We don’t want people to forget about the homicide of Grace Dedert,” Stephens said. “We want to make sure anyone with any information related to her death comes forth. There may be someone who has been sitting on information for years, and now they feel the need to come forth. If that someone is out there, now is the time to come forth. Let this family receive closure for the death of their loved one. If someone has overheard information regarding the death of Grace Dedert, give our department a call. Let us decide if the information is useful or not. Now is the time for anyone with any information to come forth. That piece of information that someone may be holding on to may be the missing piece of information investigators need to solve this case.”
Police believe a gunman entered the family business and shot Dedert during a robbery.
Dedert, 69, died from a single gunshot wound to the chest. Police believe she was likely killed between noon and 2:15 p.m. on March 17, 2010.
Anyone with any information about the fatal shooting of Dedert can call the Dothan Police Department at 334-615-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 334-793-7000.

Thoughts? The above article is from March of 2018 but since I can't find any updates since I am assuming Grace's case is sadly still unsolved as of this posting date (September 20th, 2019).
