Vera was 25 years old when her body was discovered on June 8th, 1999 in Anchorage, Alaska. Vera had not been reported as missing. It was initially reported by authorities that Vera drowned in Ship Creek and had been found on a fishing ladder. The police have since changed her classification to homicide.
Neighbors described Vera as a very agreeable person who liked to volunteer at the local soup kitchen. They reported Vera as being a "good swimmer" who was an unlikely candidate for drowning. She waitress-ed at Bean's Cafe at the time of her death.
