On July 17, 1980, the remains of an unidentified female were discovered in a heavily wooded area, one mile south of South Eklutna Lake Road near mile post two in Eklutna, Alaska. Based on the condition of the remains, the decedent was most likely deceased at least one year prior to discovery. The decedent was white with possible admixture of Native American and had long, light brown hair with a red tint. She had a small frame and was found wearing a brown leather jacket-hip length, a light color knit sweater, jeans, and knee-high red high heel woman’s boots with nylon zipper on the side. The decedent was also found wearing the following items of jewelry: a copper and turquoise bracelet, turquoise and brown shell necklace with heart pendant, twisted metal loop earrings that are gold in color, a white shell ring with brown inset ring, and a ladies chain-linked wrist watch with gold plate and brown face (“TIMEX” brand). Matches were also found in the pocket of the jacket (“SALEM” brand). This unidentified female is a known victim of serial killer Robert Hanson, who murdered 17-21 women around Anchorage, Alaska between 1971-1983. The reconstruction featured above is an artist’s rendering of what the Jane Doe may have looked like. The additional photos have been enhanced to aid in visual identification and may not reflect the original case file images. Anyone with information should contact the Alaska State Medical Examiner’s Office or the Anchorage Police Department, reference case number 1980-45262.
