Case Synopsis (Provided by Project Cold Case)
On Thursday, May 7, 1987 at approximately 9:45 pm, Robert Landis Long, a 47 year old white male, was out walking with his daughter. They were walking west on NW 16 Ave. on the sidewalk when two B/M suspect's approached them on foot walking from the opposite direction on the same side of the street. They walked past the suspects and continued on. As the victim and his daughter approached NW 12 St. and began walking south, the suspects appeared and demanded their money. The victim refused and then chased the suspects. One of the suspects stopped and shot Long. The suspects fled the area in an unknown direction.

Thoughts? As of today, July 6, 2019, the murder of Robert Long is listed as "unsolved" in the Project Cold Case Database.
This is going to be a tough case to solve, but at least we have something to work with in the suspect sketches. As always with sketches, they should be considered something to go on, as long as readers understand they are not meant to be 100% accurate.
Another thing to note is that I wonder if these sketches were shown to investigators in the robbery division of the Gainesville Police Department back in the late 80s. It's quite possible this wasn't their first or last robbery.
