(Above photo credit: Project: Cold Case) From Project: Cold Case: Case Synopsis: On May 9, 2004, shortly before 3am, South Salt Lake Police Department officers responded to the address of 776 West Timber Creek Way, the Timber Creek Apartments 3900 South 700 West. Upon arrival the responding officers found Mr. Ruben DeLeon was deceased. Through the investigation information was gained that at 1am Mr. DeLeon was observed and identified near the front entrance of the complex. Mr. DeLeon's death was ruled a homicide by the Medical Examiner*s Office due to injuries sustained during an altercation. The incident occurred within the apartment complex between 1am and 3am. I found a 2004 article with some additional information. Apparently, Ruben was majorly intoxicated on the night he was murdered, and witnesses heard a fight after Ruben was seen trying to stop cars going in and out of the apartment complex. As we've said before, nothing excuses committing murder and if Ruben's death was the result of an altercation over a car being stopped, then that could have been handled without resorting to violence. www.ksl.com/article/84890/utah-authorities-investigate-three-weekend-deaths
