On Friday, October 28th, 2016, at about 8:30 p.m., a city police officer in Florida's West Palm Beach saw a car hit a pedestrian at 39th Street and Broadway Avenue. When the driver fled the scene, the officer followed and pulled the car over.
The driver, 34-year-old Sotero Morales-Perez, was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash and driving without a license. Alcohol was suspected at the time of the crash.
The pedestrian, 56-year-old Anthony Gibson, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Although the circumstances are unclear I think I know why but I'll explain later), Morales-Perez would become a fugitive in this case.
Morales-Perez is listed on the website for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office as one of their most wanted fugitives as of this posting date (6/29/2019) with charges now including DUI manslaughter (enhanced).
I am assuming Morales-Perez may have became a fugitive by skipping out on bond, although this is my unofficial speculation since as of the aforementioned posting date he still has a warrant in Florida's public access wanted persons search and that search only lists what he's wanted for as "bail-secured bond." They list his warrant as issue on September 11th, 2018 which is why I put that as the wanted year in the thread title.

Thoughts? Not that either scenario is better or worse than the other, but so many of these DUI fugitive cases involve multiple cars. Here we have a pedestrian that was simply either walking or crossing a street! Morales-Perez was born in Guatemala so I'm assuming he may have fled there, but wherever he is he's a danger on the road based on his alleged actions until the day he is caught.
