From wral.com:
Burlington, N.C. — The suspect in a Burlington crash that killed a Nash County teacher on Monday is wanted by police after he left the hospital before officials could speak with him.
Burlington Police are looking for Nathaniel Newton. Officials said he was involved in a two-vehicle crash on June 17 at 10:28 a.m. at the intersection of Rauhut and Hatch Street. Reginald Stewart Jeffreys, 58, was also struck while walking on the sidewalk. He was a music teacher at Swift Creek Elementary and D.S. Johnson Elementary in Nash County. Jeffreys lived in Burlington.
Jeffreys and Newton were transported to the Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington for treatment. Jeffreys died at the hospital. Newton left before being treated and before investigators could interview him.
Warrants are out for Newton, 38, for involuntary manslaughter, driving while license revoked, careless and reckless driving, simple possession of marijuana and other motor vehicle violations. Police are unsure where Newton might be at this time.
The Burlington Police Department is actively seeking anyone with information about this crime. If you have any information, call the Burlington Police Department at (336) 229-3500. For anonymous methods, call Alamance County-Wide Crime Stoppers at (336) 229-7100 or text 8398 to 274637 for a text-a-tip method, both with possible cash rewards.

Thoughts? Newton was still at large at least as of June 21st, 2019 according to a weekly online listing of Burlington's most wanted fugitives: www.thetimesnews.com/photogallery/NC/20190621/NEWS/621009973/PH/1
In addition to being a music teacher, Reggie Jeffreys was said to be a talented pianist who performed at local churches and was very beloved. Newton, meanwhile, according to articles, has a criminal history including assault, driving with a revoked license, and possession of drug paraphernalia. So we have a guy who seemed to do the right in life unfairly getting his life cut short allegedly by a guy who seems to have always done the wrong things. The least Newton can do is take responsibility and turn himself in for his alleged reckless actions. If he can't finally do the right thing for once in his life, hopefully he is captured soon enough.
