If this section of this forum for AMW/Hunt/In Pursuit fans (such as myself and others)... Why is it that many of these threads/categories seem to be kind of breaking the rule that's this section of the forum is for topics not related/in conjunction with crime?
I mean any crime talk at all (not just talk on cases that J.W. Has tackled/handled) but crime that's been mentioned on the news on to or the Internet.... I mean isn't that kind of breaking the rule of being on topic and not off topic like this area of the forum suggests?
If you ask me in my opinion these things could possibly be on topic of being off topic.....
How many here on this forum are still teens to just entering the adult phase realm?
How many here are single and hoping to find love someday?
What kind of pets do we all have (including recent and now in the same category)
Which state in America (out of all 50 states) which state has the most forum members so far on this site?
How many are there of us who have kids?
How many of us are a first responder of any kind?

I'm confused... are you claiming many threads are breaking the rule or are asking if these topics you're listing are breaking the rule? I think you meant to say "what are" and not "why is it"
All of the topics you list would be off-topic since they are personal issues.
General AMW/etc...Crime show discussion is basically to discuss stuff like what was your favorite episode of The Hunt, news of upcoming seasons or stuff like that.
AMW/etc...Episode Request- is if you're looking for a particular episode or segment of AMW.
AMW/etc,,, captures are generally for when a capture happens and we move what was a current fugitive from a tv show and some capture-related questions.
Off-topic is for anything not related to America's Most Wanted or true crime shows and the more personal questions like you listed.
If you see any thread 'breaking' the rule type-threads like the categories you listed look in the upper right corner to see if it's in the off-topic section (or somewhere in one of the top parts of the pages it should say what section the thread is in) and if it is in off-topic it's not breaking the rule.

So to summarize... every question you just posted should be in Off-topic. Crime on the news is one of the more gray-line subject areas but should still be off-topic since it's about general crime news and not a crime show.

I'm so sorry for the confusion I know it's a hard question. What I meant to say or to put it..... This forum is for off subject topics that are not related to true crime tv shows, but it occurred to me that it just seemed that most threads in the off topic sector was still focusing on crime that is in general. I mean true crime is true crime whether it's something that J.W. Goes after or profiles on tv or a late breaking news break story of a major arrest or drug bust.

This entire forum is about John Walsh's tv shows. This is only one section or sector. This section is for anything off-topic from true crime shows. Crime in the news not shown on a true crime show is still off-topic from a true crime show. I have been asked to create a "crime in the news section" but feel that would just confuse things further.
So this is off-topic meaning both non-serious or fun topics like "where are you from" or a serious crime in the news topic like a school shooting that's big breaking news but not part of a John Walsh show are both appropriate to discuss here- in the off-topic section.
True crime is true crime but every other section that's not off-topic that true crime has to be related to a John Walsh or other type of true crime show.

Also, the off-topic tends to have more "crime in the news" than like "where are you from" topics- that's just the way it is. It's not intentional, just that's what gets posted most often in a section where both topics are appropriate. Part of the reason may also be we have a "Daily chit-chat thread" for some random thoughts so a lot of random off-topic non-crime comments wind up there. Also, some members may not like to answer questions too personal about themselves for their privacy, such as where are they from or what is their birthday. But off-topic thread topics not about their physical self or neighborhood/state but more like "what's your favorite tv show?" (besides In Pursuit of course ) or "what's your favorite movie?" albeit generic would be more likely to generate replies.

I helped you out and just posted a non-crime in the news topic about movies so the section isn't entirely non-crime lol. (If it gets too crime-y as it may from time to time, I'll try to post a random non-crime post if I can to break things up, although you also can as well).
