Police are looking for the persons responsible for the murder of Joe Cole back in 1991. The case was profiled on Unsolved Mysteries, but I'm not sure if it was profiled on AMW.
Joe Cole was the son of actor Dennis Cole. He was a part-time actor, band roadie, and writer. He started out as a roadie for the band Hole, and eventually became a roadie for Black Flag and Rollins Band, and was best friends with their lead singer: actor, singer, and activist Henry Rollins.
In December 1991, Cole and Rollins were coming home from a grocery store after attending a Hole concert when they were assaulted by two men, both described as African-Americans in their 20's. The two men demanded money and, dissatisfied at the amount they had, forced them into their house to rob them some more. While Cole remained outside, Rollins was forced inside at gunpoint, while the robbers ransacked the place. During the robbery, Cole was shot in the face at close range, and Rollins was able to escape the house and alert the police. After killing Cole, the two robbers escaped. The murder remains unsolved.
One of the reasons I brought this case up was that, while many people are aware of who Henry Rollins is, I'll bet many people aren't aware of this case. Unfortunately, I honestly believe this was just a case of a random robbery gone wrong, and unless someone is willing to confess, I seriously doubt it will ever get solved. There's a strong possibility that the perpetrators are already in prison for another crime, or even dead. If it's the later, that makes solving this case almost impossible.
