On October 10, 2009, Clifford Backmann was working construction at the address of 6960 Bonneval Road in Jacksonville, Florida. Authorities say that's when an unidentified black male shot Clifford in the back, stole his wallet and left Cliff to die. Cliff was able to relay some information to a 911 dispatcher before he succumbed to his gunshot wounds.
Cliff's son Ryan Backmann believes the Jacksonville Police Department did everything they could to solve the case. Now it is being worked on by the cold case detectives in Jacksonville.
In 2015, Ryan turned this tragic case into a mission by starting the non-profit group, Project Cold Case. An organization that has featured 470 unsolved homicides from family members and numerous other cases from law enforcement agencies across the United States.
Cliff's wife Jane died a few months after the murder from cancer, without knowing who killed her husband. The Backmann family are hoping someone will do the right thing and come forward with the information needed to make an arrest, and get a dangerous killer off the streets.
Based on crime location, it is advised to contact the local Crime Stoppers in Jacksonville at 866-845-TIPS (8477) if you have any information on Clifford Backmann's murder.

Thoughts? I have been in correspondence with Project: Cold Case and I really appreciate the work they've been able to do thus far with publicity into the United States unsolved murder epidemic. Sadly, we all know that database they have is going to get a lot bigger, but hopefully there will be some case resolutions as a result and families can get at least some closure.
Clifford Backmann's murder especially concerns me. Any murder is horrific and unnecessary, but Clifford was shot in the back before being robbed of his wallet. That sheer premeditation and violence makes me fear for the public safety of those around the killer in Jacksonville.
