I'm working on what I remember from the airings off my memory so please correct me if I get anything wrong. Carroll if I recall was profiled briefly sometime in the early 2000's but with little tips. When AMW re-aired him for another 15 seconds (I think) in 2009, the tips poured in. He nearly became an AMW direct capture in Springfield, Missouri, but the woman he was living with tipped him off and he fled. This did not sit well with his daughter, who in a Lifetime interview said he threatened to kill her if he ever saw her again, and Springfield, Missouri was not that far away from Illinois. On Lifetime, Carroll became one of AMW's major cases as tips started flooding in again, leading to I believe three separate airings on him, where once again, tipsters spotted him in Springfield. If I recall correctly, one tipster believed they spotted Carroll at a Walmart there. Authorities flooded the area, but once again, Carroll seemed to manage to slip through the cracks. Caroll is believed to possibly be hiding out in a homeless camp. His 2004 archived profile lists him as 52, so he should be around 62 today. Carroll has several distinguishing features, including a birthmark on his abdomen, a tattoo of a heart on his left shoulder with the word "JOANNE", and an unusual tattoo of a family tree on his right shoulder. He's also been known to wear a mustache in the past, but authorities believe he's clean-shaven now. He is also a skilled trim finisher, specializing in new construction. Thoughts? It seems Carroll may be living a transient lifestyle, which is probably why it's so hard to catch him. It's frustrating since AMW came close so many times. I actually wouldn't be surprised if he was somehow still in Springfield, Missouri. But he can be living in a homeless camp anywhere in America. In terms of frustration, Herman Carroll's case is second to only William Greer's in terms of "why can't we catch this guy?" I think AMW made a HUGE mistake in 2009 when they didn't update viewers on the case immediately after all those great tips came in. Once that new mugshot was made available, they should have a) done an update on the case and b) plastered his face on billboards all over the area.
They did a much better job in 2012 after he was spotted again, but I think if they'd stayed on him when the great tips first were reported, he could have been nabbed by now.

Just a note to anyone watching The Hunt airing this Sunday that as of Friday, August 4th, Carroll's name is for some reason still not on the official The Hunt tip form. So here's what you should do if you have information on his whereabouts: 1. If Carroll's name appears on the link below when you scroll down the list of names, simple click on his name to submit your tip. 2. If for whatever reason, you do not see Carroll's name on the link below, just click on the name of any fugitive to submit your tip, but mention your tip is not for that fugitive but specifically for HERMAN CARROLL. I seem to recall back in 2009 when a new picture of him was received, possibly sent in by a tipster. He looked to me something like Saddam Hussein. Does anyone have that new picture, or was that lead dismissed as a dead end?

A note that now I'm back home and finally saw the Hunt profile- Carroll went by the alias James Buzzard when he was living in Springfield, Missouri. Police would have caught if him if the woman he was dating didn't confront him after being told by co-workers that he was on America's Most Wanted.

As far as I can tell, Carroll is still at large on his local charges as of this update. (12/16/2021). Just wanted to mention I searched PACER online court records and at least there I could not find a federal unlawful flight to avoid prosecution warrant (UFAP) for him.
