From WMC Action News 5 Memphis:
MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - One year after 10-year-old Richard Jordan III was shot and killed, there have been no arrests, no true motive behind the crime, and only 17 tips in to Memphis investigators to help them find the boy’s killer.
Memphis Police Department held a press conference Tuesday afternoon to provide an update in the boy’s murder one year later.
Richard Jordan III was shot and killed November 13, 2017 near the intersection of Airways Boulevard and Ketchum Road around 4:45 p.m.
Richard was in the car with his mother, another woman and two other children stopped at a red light when gunfire erupted from two other cars at the light.
Two other people were shot, including a 12-year-old boy and a woman who sustained non-critical injuries.
The victims of those shootings went to the Airways police precinct for assistance.
“We canvassed miles just to find the two vehicles that we think are responsible,” said MPD Major Lambert Ross. “Video, all of the video we can get along Ketchum and further.”
Investigators say the people in a gold older model Chevy Malibu and black Chrysler 300 are responsible for Richard's death. Who was inside those two cars is still unknown to police.
“There is very little we know,” Major Ross said. “But we know somebody knows something. We know. It’s impossible. Somebody talked to somebody about this. Somebody knew what was being planned, it was discussed with somebody. Those are the people we are trying to reach out to today.”
But Major Ross says it’s been silence, with very few tips coming into to the Memphis Police Department.
From the 17 that have come in, nothing turned into a viable suspect or lead for what police are now calling a planned attack.
“It always hurts when people know things, especially this type a crime, and no one says anything,” Major Ross said. “The smallest detail paired to more details, it could lead to solving this case.”
Those details could bring closure to Richard’s family.
Tuesday night, Richard’s family and friends held a candlelight vigil for the
The vigil was held at Airways Boulevard and Ketchum Road... at the very spot were Richard Jordan III was shot.
“Somebody will come with a tip that’ll bring us justice for my nephew,” said his aunt Beauty Cummings. “I mean he was just 10-years-old and our family got a big gaping hole now where it used to be.”
There's still a $1,000 Crime Stoppers reward for anyone with information that leads to an arrest.

Thoughts? According to a February 25th, 2019 local news segment Richard Jordan III's were unfortunately still at large: wreg.com/2019/02/25/manhunt-monday-who-killed-10-year-old-richard-jordan/
Just like the Orlando Anderson Jr. case I posted earlier in the night, this is another senseless murder that cost an innocent young boy his life.
