As we all know, America's Most Wanted Fans is for the most part a fugitive-themed website. That is not to say we don't care about other cases, it is just we are a fan site for shows that are fugitive-themed and in addition we fill a void as other crime-sleuth websites (although I maintain we are an overall discussion forum and sleuthing is an aspect) mainly focus on missing and unsolved cases.
With that being said, while the focus should be and will always be about fugitives, I am writing this post to actually ENCOURAGE posters here to post missing and unsolved murder (or other types of unsolved cases) that they find interesting. It is basically since me and HeadMarshal do a good enough job posting fugitive cases already, that aspect isn't necessary. I still plan on having this site be predominantly fugitive themed, but the problem is I find that all the missing and unsolved cases are usually added by me, which takes time away from me finding more fugitive cases to potentially profile. Additionally, those
aren't my areas of expertise (finding the best missing and unsolved cases isn't my area that is, not to brag but I'm good at sleuthing about them lol) so some of you may find unique missing and unsolved cases I would have never found on my own!
You don't have to go out your way and add a zillion cases to the site, I am only asking to every once in a while please consider contributing.
Just so our site isn't just one aspect and has a little more variety, I thought I'd make some tips on how to find non-fugitive cases every now and then. I'm giving away some of my tricks, but feel it is worth it!
Beforehand:
-Please use the search feature and/or Google the case + amwfans.com to make sure the case is not already on our site.
-Every now and then post a cold case, but I prefer we skew recent or relatively recent. Heck even the 1990s is ok but a missing person case from the 1950s might be interesting but our forum would really have no chance of helping to solve it.
-You can put the police lines if the case you discover mentions them at the end of your thread and also add our website contact form but don't feel pressured to do this since I can always edit the thread accordingly. The main thing I would like is just the case posting itself.
Ok
How to Find Missing Cases
-Well, obviously first off is Google or Google news search for cases, but the two best sites for finding missing cases are the Charley Project (charleyproject.org ) and forthelost.org. Dateline NBC's missing in America cases if you Google those are good as well. Locate the Missing on Facebook is good for finding recent cases.
Hoe to Find Unsolved Cases
-Stating the obvious, searching in Google or Google news feed. Also, and I guess this can go for missing cases as well, finding Crime Stoppers websites and unsolved case listings or googling "Crime Stoppers Unsolved Homicides."
-The far and away best site to use is Project: Cold Case, who have already given us permission to use their images. Their main page and search feature can be found here: www.projectcoldcase.org/
-I would also LOVE more John and Jane Doe cases on here as although they're hard to solve, they usually make for active conversation. This is not to lessen their importance, as all these people were human beings who deserve to have a name to them. The following are links to Unidentified Wiki"s Chronoligical and Geographical indexes:

unidentified.wikia.com/wiki/Unidentified_Wiki:Geographical_case_directory?useskin=oasis
That's it for now but if anyone has any ideas/advice for finding cases even I may have missed, feel free to add them as well. There's no requirement that only me or HeadMarshal only post a case. I admittedly might edit the bejesus out of some threads just to make sure they fit forum format, but they are not going to be removed or anything just because someone besides me posted them.
Thanks again to all our wonderful members who have made this a successful website for six years and counting!
