(above photo credit: NBC Bay Area) Sierra Lamar is a young girl who was 15 at the time of her disappearance (March 16, 2012) has been missing ever since. This is personally a case that I have been following all along and I'm surprised how little law enforcement have uncovered in regards to this case. She is a young teenage girl who needs to be brought home to safety, she was about 5'2 and weighed about 110 at the time of her disappearance. Admin Note #1: Although there is now a suspect convicted of murder in the case, Sierra's remains have still not been located. Our advice for anyone with information that can lead to a location would be to contact the FBI or the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office's anonymous tip-line at (408) 808-4431.Admin Note #2: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-formwww.fbi.gov/wanted/kidnap/sierra-mae-lamar/viewvimeo.com/52542397

I was going to post the same thing as Derek and say authorities have actually discovered a lot and believe they have solved the case and Antolin Garcia-Torres abducted and murdered her. Unfortunately, they still haven't located Sierra LaMar's body (or her on the miracle chance their suspect didn't kill her.)
It's really sad because even if he did kill her and is proven in court to have done so, the family will not have any sense of closure without being able to give her a proper burial.

I remember when this case first broke, surprised they still have never physically located her.

One of the first things Defense Attorneys have to do in a case- is obviously, craft a defense. Obviously, the attorney will have no problem coming up with one here- basically any Attorney would have the same defense- how can you convict someone of murder when you don't even have a body.
At the same time, all you have to do is Google "Murder convictions without a body" and plenty of results will come up.
So a lot will depend on the physical evidence and if Garcia-Torres is charged with anything else besides murder such as kidnapping, he could still be convicted on those even if a jury finds it difficult to convict without a body, and sometimes those other charges carry life sentences as well.

Sure you can convict without a body. But those convictions don't just come out of thin air. There are usually either A.) somehow incriminating statements made. B.) Other evidence such as blood splatters, Screams from the victim, stuff like that. Or C.) A clear indication from events leading up to the murder. And also, Sierra hasn't even been declared legally dead! Which is going to seen pretty flaky to the jury. So I really don't think the murder charge will stick, sadly. Like Scumhunter said, let's just hope that he gets convicted of kidnapping(which COULD happen) and gets at least some jail time.

I should also stress that Garcia-Torres also has the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty. But if he does have anything to do with Sierra's disappearance and probable murder, I hope he's convicted of something and doesn't get off scott-free.
