Bryan Dos Santos-Gomes has been missing ever since he was abducted in 2006. AMW aired this case in 2006 and 2007.
On Dec 1, 2006, an unidentified Hispanic woman drove up to a bus stop in Fort Myers, Florida and asked a woman and her friend for help, one of the women, Maria was with her three-week old son Bryan. They got into the woman's car and she threatened Maria with a knife and demanded $500. She then dropped off the two women and drove off with Bryan. Maria said there was a diaper bag and car seat in the abductor's vehicle, a black Ford Explorer, indicating the abduction was planned.
The case later became a political argument because Maria and her husband had been smuggled illegally into the United States from their native Brazil. Authorities do not believe that had any connection to Bryan's abduction. Maria was planning to get a U Visa, which can be given to victims of violent crimes and allows undocumented immigrants to live in the US for four years. Probably further complicating the debate was that Maria and her husband had two more children after Bryan's abduction, which could impact if they can stay in the US, even if Bryan is located.
Thoughts? Regardless of what political viewpoint you have of Bryan's parents, the most important thing is finding Bryan and identifying his abductor. One of the above photos is an age-enhanced photo of what he may look at six, although I don't know how accurate the photo may be since Bryan was only three-weeks old when he was abducted. There's also an audio recording of the abductor's voice in Spanish, which I included in one of the below links.
