From the South Florida Sun-Sentinel:
Detectives are one composite sketch closer to catching the killer who shot a mother and son in North Lauderdale nearly three years ago.
Candice McKinney, 35, died inside an apartment on the 1100 block of Cove Lake Road and her wounded son Kareem Barnett, then-18, was flown by helicopter to Broward Health North medical center. McKinney’s toddler son, Logan, was also in the apartment but was unharmed, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
The shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. on March 28, 2016. At the time, distraught relatives and neighboring residents were kept away from the building for about seven hours while investigators in protective hazardous material suits collected evidence from the second-floor apartment.
No motive was mentioned, but detectives now suspect the shooter was not alone.
The killer is described as being 30 to 40-years-old, about 6 feet tall and roughly 215 pounds. He had a dark complexion, a scruffy black beard and short haircut, according to investigators.
The Sheriff’s Office asks anyone who may recognize the man in the sketch or who has any other information about the crime to call Homicide Sgt. Kevin Forsberg at 954-321-4279. Additionally, Broward Crime Stoppers will accept anonymous tips at 954-493-8477 or online at browardcrimestoppers.org. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $3,000 for the anonymous tip that leads to an arrest.

Thoughts? There seems to be a tiny discrepancy in that the articles states there is no known motive, yet Broward Crime Stoppers describes Candice's tragic death as the result of a home-invasion style robbery. Granted, it doesn't seem to be known why her home was targeted. This was a very violent crime and I fear the suspect will kill again if they aren't caught soon.
