Update: In 2024, a lot of this advice is now outdated however I have tried to put in replies whenever new methods pop up.
Forum member 912thamwuser brought up not being able to watch the latest episode of 'In Pursuit' so I figured I'd make a listing of all the ways In Pursuit can be watched without a subscription with a cable company. Unfortunately I couldn't find an entirely free option (at the moment) but found some relatively cheap (legal!) alternatives. Please note I said relatively cheap, I was once eligible to get food stamps so this isn't to disparage anyone's economic situation. Anyway here we go:
-ID Go App- The first episode is available for free for everyone. The subsequent episodes it seems are subscriber-only (you have to have a cable company subscription). If you have a friend and/or relative willing to let you use their cable subscription, this would be the only free option I know of at the moment.
And here the non-ID GO app options that I know of at the moment:
-Relatively cheap streaming service- A lot of cord-cutters of traditional cable are now using options to receive cable and streaming channels via streaming services such as Sling TV, Direct TV Now, Hulu Plus live TV, YouTube TV etc.. (you basically watch cable but via Roku, Fire stick etc...) Most of these services now have dvrs. I realize that's asking a lot for one channel and one show but it is still an option. The average cost of these seems to be $25-35 dollars but the cheapest streaming service that offers the ID channel that I can find is Philo TV, whose most basic package (as of 1/27/2019) is only 16 dollars a month:

2021 UPDATE: There is now the Discovery Plus up 4.99 with ads a month or 6.99 without ads a month that releases In Pursuit episodes prior to their official ID channel airing. Please check with cable and cell phone service providers as sometimes there be deals for free trials or free with certain plans for Discovery Plus.

Please note you will probably still have to pay a cable or phone or dsl company for internet usage but at least it's not the 200 something triple whatever with the full cable and all. Also, I believe the ID Go app only works with cable companies and not the streaming services but I'm not 100 percent sure on that. Regardless, most of them now have DVR capabilities so you can just DVR the show if you can't watch it live anyway.
-Amazon Prime- As of this posting date (1/27/2019), all episodes of 'In Pursuit' seem to become available via Amazon Prime a day or so after airing. The cost is $2.99 an episode. There is also a $19.99 for the whole season option. I am not sure how that works since the season hasn't ended yet. I'm assuming 20 up front means you're covered for each new episode. I personally would just pay the 2.99 per episode to be on the safe side but I'd you're comfortable enough the 20 for the whole season is cheaper:

-Apple iTunes- As of 2019, all episodes of 'In Pursuit' are available on Apple's iTunes in pretty much the same manner as with Amazon Prime- they become available sometime after airing with $2.99 an episode with a $19.99 for the whole season option.

UPDATE: Vudu, YouTube and Google play now offer pay-per-episodes as well- and sometimes the episodes go down in price among these three and above to only $1.99 an episode.
Hulu general subscription? (Not sure)- Hulu's regular (non-live tv) subscription is only 5.99 a month now but I don't know if they have In Pursuit immediately available within the same week like they do with other shows. If anyone knows one way or the other, please let me know and I will edit this thread accordingly.

That's what I have for the time being but if anyone has any other ideas or there are updates on how to watch for free (legally!), please feel free to reply in this thread.
Edit/Update: I'm seeing some reports that non-cable subscribers can eventually have the most recent episode unlocked but it may take a few days. I am waiting to see if anyone else has had the same experience before claiming this as fact.
