While I haven't seen it (still don't know if I even want to) the movie "Bird Box" has become a cultural phenomenon on Netflix. It seems it is a horror film and the plot is a mysterious face is destroying the population and people die if they look at it. This is why Sandra Bullock and her children are apparently blindfolded throughout the movie. The movie has inspired memes and also the "Bird Box challenge" where people on social media make videos and/or selfies of them doing every day things while blindfolded. Unfortunately, a teenage girl in Utah decided to stupidly do the challenge while driving her car and wound up crashing it! www.cbsnews.com/news/bird-box-challange-utah-who-crashed-car-while-driving-blindfolded-was-doing-challenge-netflix-movie/Just a cautionary tale to our readers to please be careful and use common sense when doing anything you want to show off on social media. There have actually been numerous times when people have died while trying to take a selfie on top of a mountain, posing with guns etc. Stop it, your selfie isn't worth going into the Darwin Awards hall of fame. m.ranker.com/list/selfie-deaths-092215/jacob-shelton

Even Netflix put out a statement warning people not to do the “Bird Box Challenge” as it could be very unsafe.
But then again we live in 2019 and most of this is for attention purposes.
If only they could just enjoy a movie for what it is and talk about it or even dress up like the characters but to go as far as to challenge yourself to do the same thing as in the movie it’s a recipe for disaster. The difference between the movie and real life is that in the movie the actors and everyone involved have control of the environment such as the traffic flow seen in the movie and Sandra Bullock likely is told what to do through an ear piece. There’s also the possibility they use green screens for the driving scenes. In real life we don’t have any of that, and no group of teenagers are professional enough like the stunt people hired on for that movie, nor do they have control of the traffic flow or environment.

The only thing I can picture telling someone to blindfold me for anytime soon is if I wanted to practice and hone echolocation skills in a controlled environment like an occupational therapy center or adult-sized play center.
As for the Bird Box film proper, I consider it merely average. Not good or bad enough for the Top & Bottom 40 Films of '018 or '019.
