(Above photo credit: amw.com archives) Fugitive Profile as of August 9th, 2014 (based on 2012 amw.com archive, US Marshals wanted poster): Sex: Male Race: White Current Age: 70-72 Height: 6'1" Weight: 230 -240 lbs. Hair (Color, Description, Facial Hair): Gray / White. Boone is balding on top. Boone has a long, white beard. He may have shaved his facial hair, but that's highly unlikely. Eyes: Blue, Glasses Other Phys. Characteristics: Boone is said to resemble Santa Claus. He may have a dark tan. Scars and Tattoos: Boone has a tattoo on his back of the word "OMERTA". He has a tattoo on his right forearm describing his beliefs. Who to call if you've seen him: US Marshals Service 1-877-Wanted-2John Boone is wanted by the US Marshals on marijuana charges. He was aired on AMW three times from 2009 to 2011. In 1987, nearly 20 Kentucky residents were arrested for possessing 45 tons of marijuana on a Minnesota farm. This led to a total of nearly 75 men being arrested and 182 tons of pot being recovered across the Midwest. One of the arrested was John Boone. The group referred to themselves as the "Cornbread Mafia" and none of the members turned on one another. Boone served 13 years in federal prison for his crimes. Boone was among the first growers to separate male from female marijuana plants, increasing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content, which increased the high from smoking the pot. In 2008, Kentucky authorities flew their aircraft over Boone's farm and after requesting a search warrant, found over 2400 marijuana plants. To date, investigators have not found Boone, largely because of how Boone supported the local community in Marion County, Kentucky and by residents abiding by his code of silence, no one has ratted him out. Thoughts? It doesn't seem like anyone in Marion County, Kentucky is going to give Boone up, so that's why trying to find him has been pretty difficult. He is also known to travel to Belize in Central America. Here's an interesting story regarding Johnny Boone:
A few months back I was in my local bookstore and was just browsing the shelves. In the true crime section, I discovered a book about Johnny Boone, written by (I think) a friend of his. I couldn't tell if this friend knows where Boone is hiding, but what intrigued me is the fact that he included photos of Boone that had his eyes blocked out by a censor bar. Obviously the author wants to protect Boone and not reveal his true face (although every picture he showed was also broadcast on AMW, so it's kind of a moot point).
With connections like that, it's no wonder why Boone is still at large.

Oh wow this is a surprise and certainly wasn't expecting him to be captured in Canada.
I know I've said on this forum despite being the admin of a crime forum I believe marijuana should be legalized in the United States. At the same time, the AMW re-enactments seemed to indicate there was more to the story to Boone just being a pot grower and that his son's "suicide" and also a later girlfriend's "suicide" were both under suspicious circumstances.
So while I have to be honest and say I can't celebrate this capture the way I would a child molester or triple murder suspect based on just growing pot charges (also don't condone his actions as they were still illegal in the state of Kentucky), if there's anything more to the story on Boone, then it is karma working itself out.

Plus, in most of his pictures, he looked like Santa Claus, but he was caught 3 days before Christmas!
EDIT: I also just remembered, there's a postal code for Santa Claus "H0H 0H0" somewhere in Canada, the North Pole, and in between, and he was caught fairly close by!

Boone has been released from prison early due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I'm going to be honest here since I don't bite my tongue as much as I did years ago- often when I see a captured AMW fugitive released early- I'm outraged- but in this case I could care less. I realize Boone's son's suicide is thought to be suspicious wise but crime wise the only thing he was convicted of was being a grower of a plant becoming increasingly legal throughout the United States. Boone made for an interesting story, but there were way more dangerous fugitives AMW could have devoted the airings on him to. I don't think Boone's the hero people make him out to be, and he's not someone who should be idolized or worshipped but at age 75 I'm not concerned about him and may karma judge whatever or years he has left on however good or bad a person he was/is and will continue to be. www.lebanonenterprise.com/content/johnny-boone-released-prison-early-due-covid-19-pandemic

You don't want to make him out to be a hero because he isn't but in the list of bad folks that I'd be losing sleep over being released or being on the run,he would be at the bottom of the list.

Even though he wasn't some deranged.maniac and he mostly stuck to narcotics charges I definitely won't shed any tears over his death

I pretty much made my feelings known earlier in this thread regarding his release. Neither the mastermind criminal kingpin he was exaggerated to be but also not the folk hero some people wanted to celebrate that he was made out to be either. Just a unique fugitive case. A final conclusion to an interesting case though.
