Moderator Note: Any news-related updates on this case can be forwarded to us at amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form--- Thoughts? As of today, December 19, 2018, Selwyn Smith still has an active warrant in the Florida Statewide and Collier County warrant databases, so he is still at large. His thread is #5 as a result of my ongoing project of searching last names in Florida's public warrants search. Like with yesterday's case, I'm surprised that this manhunt has gone on for more than 20 years. The only thing that makes sense is Selwyn fleeing the State of Florida where there's been no publicity outside the Sunshine State. www2.colliersheriff.org/arrestsearch/Search.aspx (Resource #1 to keep track of the warrant status) pas.fdle.state.fl.us/pas/restricted/PAS/person/WantedPersons.jsf (Resource #2)

Some additional information from a 1997 newslibrary article. Apparently Selwyn and Alberto were arguing while at Alberto's apartment, which led to Selwyn allegedly shooting Alberto to death.
It also mentions that Selwyn may have fled to his native Bahamas.

As of today, March 10, 2022, Selwyn still has a listed homicide warrant in Florida's statewide warrants database. PACER records show an UFAP warrant was issued in 1997, but it was closed in 2002. The documents aren't available to be downloaded, but I fear that Selwyn may be another fugitive that cannot be extradited.
