Report Narrative: In 1999, Ms. Wolfenbarger's head was found on Avon Ave. A few months later, more of her severed remains were found in the area.

Thoughts? What is crazy about this case is Melissa's body was found because a detective was investigating her stepfather, Carl Millard Patton Jr, in a 25-year old murder case (that of Liddie Evans and Joe Cleveland in DeKalb County in 1978). Patton would turn out to be an admitted serial killer.
Despite Patton's crimes, it seems investigators were also potentially suspicious of Wolfenbarger's husband, who didn't report her missing at the time she initially disappeared. Her mother would report her missing afterwards. Despite this, Melissa's husband was never seemingly declared a suspect in her case. (Which is why in fairness to him, I am not mentioning him by name here evem though his name will be in the linked articles:
