Now most of us who watch AMW of course want to see all fugitives caught- but sometimes a case is so powerful it becomes almost our personal mission to want to see them caught. These might not be the most dangerous or deadly (in another words, a lot of AMW.COM forum members had Jose Saenz as their #1 fugitive for how deadly he was, and I don't disagree with the choice but I wouldn't call his case an emotion based case despite his girlfriend being among the victims) but rather how much they pulled at your heartstrings.
Are there any cases that invoked that reaction in you?
I'll list a few:
Jesus "Chuy" Canales- When Canales was finally caught, I reacted like my favorite team won the Super Bowl. It was easily one of the most heart-wrenching cases AMW covered when Mariana had to witness Chuy impale her mother with a sword right in front of her and her little brother. We of course also know about the courageous 911 call. Still, knowing the impact it must have had, and how she will live with that image the rest of her life, you couldn't help but feel pain. I broke down after the last airing seeing Mariana still trying to get by and Chuy not yet caught. I really hope when John Walsh does his new show, even though it's not AMW, he gives an update on Mariana and how is she is doing now that Chuy is finally behind bars awaiting trial.
Janet & Ramon Barreto- I have to admit seeing good come out of evil always inspires people. And I have to admit I got teary-eyed when I saw Sheriff Jimmy adopt one of the mistreated adopted children of the Barretos. They need to be caught already.
Edmundo "Cerda" Amina- AMW began this re-enactment in a powerful and memorable way, playing the voice mail of Sandra Adams, whose children decided to keep it in her memory. Seeing how much they loved her and how it was taken away when all she did was go out for a walk, and it easily became in my opinion one of the most emotional cases in the history of AMW, and not a surprise at all when John Walsh made him his #1 fugitive of 2006.
Those were some of mine. Are there any others I'm missing that got to you personally?
