From kwch.com:
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) The murder of a Pizza Hut delivery driver remains unsolved. Hasan Rahman's body was found in the trunk of his car in east Wichita in November of 2017. Police say they're still waiting on information that could lead to a break in the case.
As investigators wait on evidence, Hasan's friends say they haven't lost hope.
"You see it on TV but then when it happens to someone around you or close to you it's kind of unbelievable," said Tania Akter, a friend of Hasan.
Hasan is remembered not only as a friend, but a mentor and model citizen. Police say his background gives no indication how or why the 26-year-old ended up dead in the trunk of his car.
"From everything I know he was probably in the wrong place at the wrong time, unfortunately," said Captain Brent Allred with the Wichita Police Department.
We know Hasan delivered pizzas to two addresses near 13th and Oliver the night of Nov. 25, 2017. When he didn't come back to work his co-workers went looking for him.
Capt. Allred says they found items belonging to Pizza Hut at the last property Hasan delivered to. He won't disclose what those items were, but says it wasn't something Hasan would leave behind accidentally.
The following morning, a woman in a neighborhood near Douglas and Rock Rd. spotted a car that didn't belong. She checked it and found Hasan's body inside. That address is more than three miles from where Hasan last delivered pizzas. Days later, the sign for the top of his car was found in the 1400 block of N. Willow.
We know Hasan died from a gunshot wound, but police won't disclose where on his body he was shot or if it happened before he was placed in the trunk.
"Obviously something happened for him to be placed in the trunk. What type of struggle we're not 100 percent sure," said Allred.
The crime continues to impact the Wichita Bangladesh community. Hasan was an international student and was deeply involved in community events. He also mentored incoming students at Wichita State University.
"Everyone used to know him because of all the possible things he could do for a new student," said Arfa Haque, a friend of Hasan. "Anyone who needed help or any community program. He made people happy."
Friends say Hasan had no enemies and no reason to be targeted. Nothing was taken from his car, making a motive even more unclear.
"Typically, when we go to calls like this it's a robbery, there's money taken, there's something taken. In this case we don't believe anything was," said Allred.
Now nearly a year later with no answers, police say any information is valuable in the search for Hasan's killer.
"We miss him and the community for years to come will still shed tears for Hasan," said Karim.
Hasan's case isn't the only unsolved murder from that night. A mother and son were also found dead just a couple blocks from where Hasan's body was located. Police say Cody Ha and Huong Pham were shot and killed in their home. Some have speculated the cases are connected, but police say that's not something they can discuss at the moment.
