TALLADEGA COUNTY, Ala. —
Over the past year, Amanda Simpson has made the journey to Oak Hill Cemetery countless times to pay respects to her daughter, Michelle Haney. In that time, there have been some small changes such as the color of the flowers at her gravesite, but one thing has remained the same: her daughter's homicide being unsolved. Last November, Haney was found shot in the head on Turner Mill Road.
"It has been hard, long, lots of nights crying," Simpson says. "Just trying to hang in there and answers small children's questions when they ask, 'Who did it and why? Why have we not got them yet?' Baby, I don't know why we do not have them yet. We just don't.
Talladega County Sheriff Jimmy Kilgore says investigators have talked to numerous people, numerous times since her death. Investigators have followed every lead but to no avail. However, they will never give up, Kilgore says.
"There is nothing we take more seriously or more importantly than a homicide investigation," Kilgore said. "Certainly, we want to see justice and closure for the family. It is just a terrible thing. We work continuously everyday to bring some resolution to it and bring some closure to the family."
Haney, a mother-of-four and step-mother-of-two was known as a fun-loving and outgoing person. Her mother said the holidays are tough because Haney added all the joy to the season. Simpson said she hopes each phone call will bring her an answer, but until then, her quest for justice will not stop.
"I will never give up, even until my last breath is taken," Simpson said. "I will keep seeking justice. I will not stop. It will take my last breath to stop. I do not care if it goes for the next 30 years, I will not give up. I will not, and when I finally can't keep carrying the flag, she has children that will keep carrying that flag to get justice."
Talladega County Sheriff's Office is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Haney's death. Anyone with information on Haney's death is asked to contact the Talladega County Sheriff's Office at (256) 761-2141.
"Justice will help us bring a little bit of closure, a little bit of peace," Simpson said. "It is not going to replace her, because there is no replacing the life that they took, but it can stop somebody else from losing a life because they decide to kill again."

Thoughts? This story is tragic and also doesn't make any sense. There aren't a lot of available details or clues it seems anode from the fact that a beloved 31-year-old mother of six children was found shot in the head on the side of the road. Whatever happened, there is a very dangerous murderer on the loose that needs to be apprehended before they kill anyone else.
