From the Park Rapids Enterprise (Minnesota):
LITTLE FALLS, Minn. — The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office continues to ask for the public’s assistance in the investigation of Terrence “Terry” Brisk’s death on Nov. 7, 2016.
The sheriff’s office joined with the statewide nonprofit Crime Stoppers of Minnesota to invite the public to come forward easily and anonymously with any information about the case, a news release stated.
Brisk, 41, was apparently hunting alone on his parents’ property in Belle Prairie Township when he suffered a gunshot wound resulting in his death. The sheriff’s office responded shortly after 5 p.m. Nov. 7 to the area where Brisk was found, near the intersection of Hawthorn and Jewel roads east of Little Falls. At the time, the incident was characterized as a possible hunting accident. Brisk was wearing blaze orange.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was called to the scene immediately, Sheriff Shawn Larsen said in 2016, and assisted with the investigation. Investigators believe Brisk was shot between 2:26 and 4:20 p.m. Nov. 7.
His body was sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office, where it was determined he died from blood loss attributed to the gunshot wound. Larsen said close communication with the medical examiner’s office, along with information gathered throughout the investigation, led to the homicide determination.
The private land where Brisk was found is wooded and contains a gravel pit, used often by family members during deer hunting season, Brisk’s mother said shortly after his death.
The sheriff’s office is still actively investigating this homicide case with assistance from the BCA and the FBI. The office confirmed Brisk’s own rifle was the weapon used in the homicide. His Winchester Model 30-30 lever action rifle was preserved and submitted immediately to the BCA laboratory after it was located. Because this is still an active and ongoing investigation, no other details will be shared, the sheriff’s office stated.
Larsen stated there is up to a $30,000 reward from local donors for information leading to the arrest of the person who shot and killed Brisk. Anyone with information pertaining to this case is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 320-632-9233.
Another option is to report it and stay anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers of Minnesota at its website, www.crimestoppersmn.org, by calling the toll free number 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), installing the Submit a Tip app on any smartphone or sending a text message beginning with TIP674 to CRIMES (274637). All contact with Crime Stoppers is anonymous and people may qualify for a reward of up to $1,000 if the information leads to an arrest. Crime Stoppers reported the organization will forward the information to the investigators while preserving anonymity of any person submitting it.
