The pursuit of wanted prison escapee Chad Everette Dasher has spanned a large portion of the South for weeks, giving way to a wild, unpredictable, and seemingly endless chase. Dasher was in jail for a multi-county crime spree in Georgia, mainly for house burglaries and car thefts. However, he has an extensive criminal history beyond that, including arrests for burglary, firearms, fraud, narcotics, resisting arrest and traffic offenses. On January 24th, 2014, Dasher and fellow inmate Raymond Thomas Smith escaped from the Tattnall County Jail. They executed an elaborate plan to breach jail security and escaped through the jail's roof. The duo fled and were eventually spotted in East Texas. Smith was caught, but Dasher would remain at large, where he would proceed to steal a family's SUV. Just last night around 1 am, Dasher was spotted in New Hope, Alabama. Deputies say they tried to make a traffic stop when Dasher led them on a short chase. Investigators say Dasher took off running after the gold SUV he was driving got stuck in the mud. Crews used heavy equipment to remove the SUV from the mud just after 6:30 a.m The Madison County Sheriff's office believes he fled the area and is likely headed back to Georgia. According to deputies, Dasher's rap sheet extends over 30 pages and most of his violence is directed at law enforcement. Dasher is believed to be driving a 2002 black Toyota Sequoia with the Alabama tag number 47C45W5. Deputies say Dasher stole the vehicle Wednesday morning in Madison County. Chad Everette Dasher is 38 years old. Dasher is a white male, 5'9" tall and 140 pounds. He has green eyes and brown hair. If you have any information about Chad Dasher , call the Tattnall County Sheriff’s Office at 912-557-6777 or the U.S. Marshals Service Communications Center at 1-800-336-0102. Tips can also be emailed to usms.wanted@usdoj.gov. All information is confidential. A $5,000.00 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of Dasher. www.wtoc.com/story/24734405/tattnall-co-jail-escapee-arrested-in-texaswww.wtoc.com/story/20009254/chad-dasher-blames-thefts-chases-on-drugswww.kltv.com/story/24740447/something-just-didnt-feel-right-family-car-stolen-by-ga-escapeewhnt.com/2014/02/19/madison-county-deputies-search-new-hope-for-escaped-inmate/www.usmarshals.gov/news/chron/2014/021114.htm

The Marshals have increased the reward for Dasher to $5,000. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they added him to their top 15 list at this point. I know there's no talk about being innocent civilians being harmed in any articles (although they say he's violent towards law enforcement), and compared to other prison escapees he may not be as dangerous (in other words, not a killer or rapist) but the Marshals love adding career criminals plus he's a prison escapee. Plus the more crimes he commits the more potential for danger. The SUV he allegedly stole from the family in Dallas. What if the family happened upon him while he was stealing it? What could have happened? Keep in mind he may be more desperate now because he does not want to go back to jail. That's why its' important he gets caught. Along with the now captured Kevin Briggs and still-at-large Eric Hartwell (who I assume may also be a candidate for the list if he isn't a quick capture), I believe Dasher was the first to set off this breaking news streak of fugitives escaping from prison or other types of police custody. I hope the remaining two get caught soon because although I want them to go down, I'd like to add some non-AMW fugitives on my list already, LOL. www.wtvm.com/story/24768463/reward-doubles-for-information-leading-to-arrest-of-escaped-ga-inmate

He certainly has been on the run for longer than the average prison escapee. It does beg the question as to how quickly he can be caught before he could possibly commit violence against someone.

The chase is finally over. And unsurprisingly, it ended in a wild fashion. After crashing a car into a home in Long County, Georgia, which is right near where Dasher escaped (Tattnall County) police were tipped off it was him. He then fled through a pond and police located him in a house in Glennville, Georgia, with his two young children who were unharmed, and he was arrested. (Despite his incarceration, Dasher had legal custody and it was not considered a kidnapping.) One thing I didn't realize was just how well known this case was down south. I was actually just reading up on updates yesterday and apparently Dasher had "Bucky Phillips" status with some on the internet and some posters were cheering him on. In any case, the saga is finally over. blog.al.com/breaking/2014/04/escaped_inmate_once_sought_in.html

I believe Dasher was a breaking news case but he was the only one I added in his week, so I will replace with someone new either tonight or sometime this week.
