Authorities in West Los Angeles are searching for the killer of Carvell Baker. AMW aired the case in 2009 and I believe in 2011.
Carvell Baker was a homeless man who would panhandle outside a 7-Eleven store. On Apr 21, 2007, a man and who investigators believe to be his friend, bought beer at the 7-Eleven store. They left, but 45 to 50 minutes later, he returned and paced for a few minutes at the back of the store. At around 11:40 PM, he went to the front of the store, and shot Carvell Baker in the head, killing him. Nothing was stolen from Carvell but he appeared to be the victim of a deliberate shooting.
At the time of the murder, Carvell's killer was believed to be a hispanic male in his mid 30's, 5'8 to 5'9, 185-200 lbs, with a shaved head and mustache. He was also wearing a blue hooded, LA Dodgers sweatshirt, black pants, blue baseball cap and dark shoes.
Thoughts? I recall from several years ago, watching an online news video from Los Angeles's FOX Station's website on LA's Most Wanted, that the killer could have been a gang member. I have a possible theory on this murder that I don't believe was ever brought up. There have been cases of Latino gang members in the Los Angeles area killing innocent blacks because of their race (ex. Merced Cambero). I wouldn't be surprised if this was a racially motivated killing (Carvell Baker was black). Carvell was just a homeless man at a local store so it wasn't like he had entered a neighbourhood controlled by a gang or was a rival gang member. However this is just one possibility.
