According to Newspaperarchive.org, Juan Manuel Lopez is accused of stabbing Vernon Carter to death and wounding one of Vernon's companion's in Fullerton, California back on June 25, 1989. The presumed motive was that the meeting was a marijuana transaction that turned into an attempted robbery.
The Fullerton Police Department's website elaborates that Juan's brother, Jose Guadalupe Lopez is also wanted for assault with a deadly weapon in connection with this case. Juan & Jose Lopez went on the run afterwards.
Based on crime location, it is advised to contact the Fullerton Police Department at (714) 738-6700 if you have any information on the whereabouts of either Juan Manuel Lopez or Jose Guadalupe Lopez.

Thoughts? As of today, October 28, 2018, Juan and Jose Lopez are still at large since they are listed on the Fullerton Police Most Wanted page and Juan still has an active warrant in the Orange County Warrants Search. I didn't see one for Jose but I kind of wonder if it's under an alternative Date of Birth since there are dozens upon dozens of listed warrants for "Jose Guadalupe Lopez and "Jose G Lopez".
This case was first learned about through a 1993 archived newspaper report regarding fugitives wanted for murder out of Orange County, California. I'm almost done profiling the cases I've got decent photos for and where I can confirm their murder warrant is still active. At least for once with these cases there is an active law enforcement page publicizing the manhunt.
It should be noted that Jose Guadalupe Lopez was not included in the 1993 report because he's only charged with "assault with a deadly weapon" for some reason. Perhaps there's some circumstances regarding the death of Vernon Carter and the wounding of his associate that haven't been disclosed, that would explain Jose's lesser charge.
