From CBS 10 Amarillo: (2015 article)
Amarillo, TX - The 6 year old murder case of Sherry Mondragon still haunts her family and now they are upping the reward to find her killer.
April 25th, 2015 marks 6 years since Sherry Mondragon's body was found wrapped in a rug and stuffed into a garage in a north Amarillo home and the family is still searching for answers.
"We lost one of our greatest riches and that is Sherry" says Al Mondragon, Victim's Father.
The family has been working with Amarillo Crime Stoppers to increase the reward to $5,000 dollars.
Autopsy results show Mondragon died after she was shot in the back.
She had been reported missing since that January.
"We knocked on her door and she didn't answer and her car was in her parking space. So we thought, maybe she is taking a shower or something.
We left and came back 2 or 3 hours later and she still didn't answer the door. Her car was still there, so right then and there my wife and I figured, something is wrong. They took our daughters life, but they ruined ours forever" says Mondragon.
It has been hard for the family to cope with the lack of closure over the last 6 years.
However Sherry Mondragon's father has a message for the person responsible for murdering his daughter.
"In my heart I'm going to tell you the truth, I have forgiven these people. Whoever they are, he, she, or they. But just knowing who did it would help even more. I would love for the day to come that I could say it in person to them, I forgive you, I hope you can tell me what happened"
If you know anything about Sherry Mondragon's disappearance or death you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at (806) 374-4400.
