GILFORD, N.H. —
Police still don't know who fatally shot a Gilford woman and her dog on Halloween eight years ago.
Officials said Roberta "Bobbie" Miller was found dead in her home on Country Club Road in Gilford on Nov. 1, 2010.
Her body was discovered by her son, Jonathan.
Miller and her yellow Labrador retriever, Sport, were both shot several times, according to initial police reports.
"We know the murder occurred right inside her home," Senior Assistant Attorney General Benjamin Agati said in 2015. "I can tell you it was multiple gunshot wounds, and we know that whoever it was also chose to inflict multiple gunshot wounds on her dog."
The 54-year-old mother of two grown children was going back to school to study business. Offiicals said she spent at least part of her weekend making new window boxes.
Prosecutors said there was no sign of forced entry and wouldn't speculate on a motive or how many people were involved.
The list of unanswered questions, such as whether she knew her killer or invited them inside, plagues the family.
“Just wanting to know why, I think. You get angry and you want answers, but in the end you just want to know why,” said Miller's daughter, Jennifer.
Bobbie Miller was one of six children.
"It really just takes your breath away," her younger brother, Ken Dionne, said in 2015. "You don't expect this. Nobody does. This kind of thing happens to other people. It doesn't happen to you."
The family has tried to generate new leads in the case, launching websites and even putting up billboards offering a reward for information.
