From wdrb.com (2009 story):
"Louisville Metro Police are still investigating a late-night shooting that left one man dead. The coroner says 20-year-old James Spencer of Louisville died at U of L Hospital of several gunshot wounds.
Police say the victim was shot multiple times Tuesday night, but who fired those shots and why are still questions detectives are investigating.
Police were called to the Beecher Terrace Housing Complex located at 11th and Cedar Court just before midnight. The victim was found in a courtyard and was rushed to University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. "

Thoughts?
I stress the above article is old and perhaps outdated but I still wanted to post this case on our website since James Spencer's death is still listed on the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department website as an open (unsolved) homicide as of this posting date (10/15/2018): www.louisville-police.org/PhotoGallery/Album/10
Also, I feel this is solvable case. I find it hard to believe at a housing complex where residents must have heard gunshots at the very least that nobody knows anything. I fear this may be a case of witnesses not wanting to talk to the police, which is a shame since a 20-year old's life was cut tragically short.
