(Above photo credit: amw.com archives) Authorities on the Hawaiian island of Kauai are searching for an unidentified serial killer. AMW aired this case a few times, the first airing was in 2007 on the Hawaii special episode. On Apr 7, 2000, the naked body of 38-year old Lisa Bissell was found on a sugar cane road, she had been stabbed to death. On May 23, 2000, a woman was attacked by a man at a private beach house where she was a caretaker, her attacker attempted to rape her and stabbed and wounded her, she fought him off and he fled. On Aug 30, 2000, the body of 43-year old Daryn Singer was found on a beach at the campsite she had made, she had been beaten and stabbed to death. I've read different sources (archived amw.com page and articles) that differ on whether investigators determined that Lisa and Daryn were raped, or if it was only considered a possibility. Authorities believe the same man is responsible for all three crimes. He was a white male, and at the time of the crimes was described as being 5'10-6'0, 185-200 lbs, with brown hair and having a slim/athletic build. As of 2012, authorities have a person of interest that moved to the mainland, but remains on the radar of law enforcement. Thoughts? I don't have much of an opinion on this case, only that if he remained on the island of Kauai, he probably would have been identified by now. Admin Note #1: Should anyone have any information on this case, based on crime locations, our advice would be to call Kauai Police Department at (808) 241-1711Admin Note #2: If you have any news-related updates on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-formwww.hawaiinewsnetwork.com/unsolved-mysteries-search-for-kauai-serial-killer/

I've never been to Hawaii but the islands on them seem pretty vast plus all they have is a sketch so I actually wouldn't be surprised if he was still there.
Serial killers are unfortunately hard to catch. Especially if their crimes are spread out over years or months and aren't a bunch of killings at once.
It will take very good detective work to solve this case.

have any background checks made with the person of interests to know if he was an ex con or not? Good question. I haven't read anything about that. Being an ex con doesn't prove guilt of course, but it would make that guy a more intriguing POI.

I would look at anyone who's as much as been to Kauai in the year 2000 who...
...describes many women, particularly middle aged women with Bohemian lifestyles, with a lot of putridly disgusting and graphic sexual slurs. ...Has any interest in seeing middle-aged women with Bohemian lifestyles suffering pain or dying. It could be someone with a common sadistic streak who finds middle-aged Bohemian women a convenient target, or someone who believes middle-aged Bohemian women need to be struck dead as brutal retribution for something he has a grudge against that demographic for. ...seems like he'd have an MO of bludgeoning his victims as hard as he can so the bone fractures are as severe and agonizing as possible. I imagine this was the extent of his malice, because of the hours that the known wounded survivor took to crawl up to a phone and dial 911 and the extreme pain she suffered. If the 2007 and 2008 AMW profiles were any indication, the bone fractures he inflicted on her were obscene. ...does what many serial killers do and builds a torture chamber in a dark and creepy place like his basement.

Does anyone here have the link to the AMW video of this horrible crime? I can't find it. I sure hope they catch this guy. I am pleased to see the Kauai Cold Case Unit looking into new DNA testing.

Hi Goose, welcome to the forum! Unfortunately, AMW airings are pretty much only findable if someone posts them to YouTube or Vineo. Can't find the AMW airing, just a local news report: m.youtube.com/watch?v=67RQISbPWZI
