In the early 1990s, Esther Taboada had been married to her husband Mario for a decade. The marriage had not been going very well and she moved out with her two children after asking for a divorce.
On February 28, 1992, Esther was at a parking lot in Santa Barbara, California when authorities say Mario came over to her and allegedly stabbed her to death. Before succumbing to her injuries, Esther said that her husband was the one who had stabbed her. Mario has been on the run ever since.

Thoughts? Luckily Santa Barbara County has a public court records page, so if you put down the last name "Taboada" and go to page #4, you'll see the entry for Mario Soto Taboada. There's been no movement since 1992 on his case which is still classified as "warrant", so I can confirm as of today, October 13, 2018 that he's unfortunately still at large.

were recent fugitive and unsolved cases at the time, but at least they were willing to profile a few cold case fugitives like Mario Soto Taboada. There is a Find A Grave page online dedicated to the memory of Esther Taboada so her family is still trying very hard to find Mario accountable of his alleged actions and face a court of law for the murder of Esther.
