Bejarni Rivas is wanted out of Montgomery County in Maryland after he was convicted in one of the sickest cases of child molestation I've ever seen on this forum.
In late 2012, Bejarni Rivas loaned a 14-year-old girl's mother $5,000 dollars. However, instead of being paid back the traditional way, the girl's mother instead agreed to pay Rivas back by forcing her daughter to engage in sexual activities with him.
The following is a disturbing portion of an NBC Washington D.C. segment about this case:
"The girl told Child Protective Services that in December 2012, her mother took her to Rivas and then informed her that their meeting was so Bejarni could touch her in exchange for money, authorities said. Rivas then took the child to the men's dressing room at Georgian Colonies Club House in Silver Spring, Md., and molested her. He then paid the child $100.
Two weeks later, Rivas met the girl and her mother at a Rockville gas station and proceeded to the same clubhouse, where Rivas took the victim to a women's changing room where the girl refused to perform sexual acts. She returned to her mother in the parking lot and begged her mother not to make her have sex with Rivas, but instead of sympathizing her mother reportedly told the girl, "I've done bad things to make you have a good life. Go with him."
Rivas had sex with the girl despite her protests and pleas to stop because of the pain, authorities said.
Afterward, Rivas drove to a 7-Eleven ATM, withdrew cash and asked the child if she would have sex with him again. She said she wasn't sure and was again given $100, according to the state's attorney. Her mother then promised she would never have to have sex with Rivas again.
Then on March 23 (admin edit: in the year 2013), her mother told her Rivas was coming to their Germantown apartment for sex for $140. The girl refused and was "grounded" and left alone in the apartment, authorities said. When Rivas showed up, the girl refused to let him inside. Her mother called and demanded she let Rivas do what he wanted, and when he returned, she fled to a relative's home.
The girl's cousin informed investigators that Rivas has a reputation for engaging in sexual relationships with young girls and that he had tried to cultivate the same type of relationship with her when she was younger, though she declined. "
In November of 2013, a Maryland jury found the mother guilty of 10 counts, including rape in the second-degree and two counts of human trafficking of a minor. She faced a sentence of around 100 years, although I currently don't know how much time she actually received.
Rivas, would go on trial also, however, he disappeared shortly after his confession. Instead, he was convicted in absentia of human trafficking, conspiracy, sexual abuse of a minor and solicitation of sex with a minor. He too faced a sentence of around 100 years in prison.
Rivas is believed to have fled to Nicaragua where he has family. (One news report says he is a U.S. citizen but has family in Nicaragua, but his Interpol wanted poster says he was in fact born in Nicaragua).
Thoughts? This is the worst forum-exclusive parental betrayal fugitive case since Ernesto Alas-Alcnatar/Sonia Lemus Alcantar! I am so angry at both the mother and Bejarni Rivas. How any mother could let their own daughter go through that kind of trauma that will likely severely affect them for the rest of their life is beyond me. And Rivas, this is a piece of crap who also had the nerve and audacity to give a 14-year old girl money after sexually assaulting her like she was his prostitute.
I am pretty sure that Rivas is unfortunately still at large as of this posting date (September 30th, 2018) since he currently has a Red Notice wanted poster on Interpol's website. (A Red Notice is pretty much the closest thing to an international arrest warrant (explained here: www.justice.gov/usam/criminal-resource-manual-611-interpol-red-notices)
Also, he has warrants from both 2013 and 2014 in Maryland criminal court records. (I put the offense dates instead of warrant year for the thread title since it was a bit confusing in that aspect).
And finally, normally I put the word "allegedly" for legal and fairness reasons when discussing a case. Here, Rivas is a convicted and proven low-down piece of sh**. And I really hope that one day he is in a prison cell, his cellmate makes him his *you know what* and makes trades for goods with other inmates in exchange for letting them spend time with him. Sorry guys, I'll let you know how I really feel about Rivas on another day.
