It is standard whenever there isn't an incumbent in either party for there to be a lot of candidates in the beginning and then they drop out one by one. In my opinion Sanders Warren Biden amd Buttigieg are the only ones worth talking about at the moment and the rest are not newsworthy if they drop out other than to wonder if they may be potential VP candidates. There is an outside shot for Bloomberg in my opinion, I know as a native New Yorker not to count him out but it's mainly now a battle of the two progressives vs. the two centrists. (I liked Buttigieg and thought of him as a happy medium, centrist but not a DC insider but he's taken a lot of flack recently).
To me, the bigger news this week is Trump apparently wanting to start a war in Iran to distract from his impeachment scandal, ironic considering he once predicted on Twitter Obama would start a war with Iran in order to get re-elected.

I hear ya. Despite what it might look like here, I don't consider myself liberal or conservative, just someone sane enough to realize Trump is insane.

It is on my bucket list of things to do.

I know I haven't posted in a while but Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee, a key swing vote, has announced he will NOT vote for witnesses in the impeachment trial, despite 75 PERCENT of Americans calling for witnesses. This would likely lead to there not being enough votes for witnessss and Moscow Mitch McConnell calling for a swift vote to acquit Trump
I really hope he changes his mind or somehow there are witnesses otherwise- today will arguably be the darkest day in American history.
Don't get me wrong- I fully don't expect Trump to ever get removed by the cowards in the Senate anyway- it's not about that but about there at least being a fair trial with witnesses. Instead they are complicit and covering up what would likely be even more damning testimony against Trump. They would still acquit him, but they would look even worse when doing so and they know it.
I can't stress the importance of voting even more- there are good Republicans- but unfortunately most of them are no longer in congress- it is now the cult of Trump and allowing him to be a monarch without consequences despite the fact he didn't even win the popular vote.
We need to come out in droves this November- not only Trump but to take back to Senate. I would argue that Moscow Mitch is arguably a more powerful and evil man than Trump- because unlike Trump McConnell is unfortunately politically savvy.
Please as this not an exaggeration, regardless of what happens later on today, vote no matter what to vote all these a**-holes out in November as democracy is at stake.

Unsurprisingly, Trump was acquitted after a sham impeachment trial.
However, I have to give kudos to Mitt Romney for his bravery in voting to convict Trump on abuse of power. I remember Jeff Flake, Republican from Arizona who used to be in the Senate, stated that if it was a private vote, Trump would be impeached, but they're all too afraid to do it publicly. Romney said f*** that and stood on faith.
I actually am reacting to Trump's acquittal now encouraged- the only person to go across party lines was to convict- not to acquit. And Trump is a guy who never learns his lesson. May be a weird analogy but he's essentially O.J. Simpson- who got away with murder and then committed an armed robbery. He can't lay low and cool it and will think he can do anything. Trump will never change his ways and I have a feeling very soon he will do something even his colleagues can't defend him on- if he hasn't already. But in the meantime, let's continue to oppose to current Republican party (sans Mitt Romney) for the cowards they are and continue to fight for our rights. (To parrrty!)

I feel Trump will get what’s coming to him, it’s 2020 and as I’ve said before, even with the fact that he’s been impeached it’s filth enough on his record. The Democrats could have a decent shot in November, (yes there was that f**kery that went on during the Iowa caucus), but I think with the right candidate as the Democratic nominee, Trump will more than likely be punished by the people thanks to the election process, because at some point everyone has to say enough is enough.

Also, I'm sorry, I swore I was never going to mention him again, but only sharing since I found it hilarious- but as you guys know the "rhymes with Spaghetti" guy that used to send e-mails I blocked from our site- I changed the rules so you have to have a valid e-mail address to contact us. He probably thinks I'm lying- but I haven't read or "accidentally" read an e-mail of his since September- but it looks like he still e-mails the site- not even knowing his e-mails are going to a spam filter where they're automatically deleted- since I just got an e-mail in the spam filter I assume must be from him since it came literally 30 minutes after Trump was acquitted. I also got an e-mail in the spam filter after Trump's initial impeachment and after any news about Trump. I wish I knew what the messages were but I just wanted to share this anecdote to show just how nutjobby the MAGA crowd is- that the minute this guy sees anything in the news about his President- his immediate reaction is to e-mail a guy he's never met, and apparently doesn't have any other friends. So to rhymes with spaghetti- I honestly have no idea if it's you or not sending e-mails, but if it is you, I'm still not reading them since you're still too dumb to know how to use an actual e-mail address to make sure they get read, and I'm assuming you must be a friendless loser who lives in his parents' basement if you have no one to talk about politics with other than a guy who doesn't even get your messages. Once again I outsmarted you, and I will always be smarter than you. (Sorry, I know you guys must be think I made the guy up by now and he doesn't exist, but even not knowing what he's saying it's still way too fun and hilarious to troll him. For the sake of you guys, I now promise to never mention or acknowledge him again for the rest of my life. ).

Loved Pelosi ripping up the SOTU speech too. (And I used to not like her!) To quote an MTV show from the 1990's, it's about time Dems stopped getting polite- and started getting real.

More and more cases of coronavirus. Many in nyc, a little too close to home for me. And we couldn't have asked for a worse leader during a crisis like this. Even George W. Bush tried to act like a leader in the days after 9/11 even if he used silly words like "evildoers."
But we went from Presidents who reassured the public or took accountability to this guy- there was literally a counsel on pandemic diseases that Trump disbanded and he says that "he takes no responsibility at all" about that. We went from "the buck stops here" to this.
Admittedly in the past the media has overhyped things- swine flu bed bugs etc... but this unfortunately has lived up to the hype. The normal flu might kill more people- but there's a vaccine for it and it's known how to treat it. Meanwhile a CNN editorial actually praised Trump for his response. And I'm getting really annoyed with CNN and their attempts to be fair and balanced. Trump claims the media is unfair to him when the reality is they don't call out his lies often enough. Praising Trump for his handling of this is literally like praising a guy who deliberately set a house on fire but hoses it down with water afterwards. Trump dropped the ball big time on this one.
The good news is the Chinese may have a vaccine soon. The bad news is we're in a trade war with China. Positive sign at least that there may be a vaccine soon though.
All we can do is hope for the best, even if we unfortunately have this moron in the White House for the time being.

All we can do is hope for the best, even if we unfortunately have this moron in the White House for the time being. FINALLY I have more people addressing the elephant in the room. The 45th administration turned the usual corporate cable news media and tabloid scarelore into a reality! And that's not even getting into Mike Pence's harebrained idea to try and pray it away, just like he tried to pray HIV away from Indiana when he was governor and ended up spreading that virus out of control. Faith healing, idle prayer, and spiritual warfare never worked for sects like the Seven Mountain Dominion (which Pence is part of) and the Pentecostal Church of Charismatica (who put the concept of spiritual warfare on the map). And I've been furious at CNN for almost a year. Besides cable news corporations' inordinate sway over mainstream political discussion in the US, they're among the biggest reasons why the labor class and other beneficiaries of left-wing politics have no voice in the American system. Extreme reactionaries might beat up CNN as "liberal media", but they got the right culprit for the wrong offence; CNN has thrown aside objectivity for a neutrality bias, because they think everybody in the American public thinks each side of America's Overton Window, and both halves of the two-party system, deserve equal credence when that idea falls apart when you compare the American spectrum with the planetary political spectrum. CNN and MSNBC such so much at calling out all the wrongdoing in politics that people are flocking to independent progressive online media, including social democrat channels on YouTube.
