Since it was brought up in the other thread about In Pursuit I figured we'd do this.
John Walsh will be debuting a new show called "In Pursuit" on the ID (Investigation Discovery) channel next year. Obviously this might seem be a weird time to bring this up when he is hosting a brand new show, but he is now in his 70's and I take it would like to retire some day. (I imagine like 5 years tops before he'd want to retire in my opinion).
Whenever that day unfortunately comes, someone will have to take up the mantle for him. So I figured we'd make a new thread asking who we'd like to see take over.
Obviously, it's hard to say not knowing what the new show will look like. A show with a host who simply introduces the cases doesn't necessarily need a victims rights advocate. Robert Stack was an actor but was great hosting Unsolved Mysteries. Just as long as it's someone who cares about the cases.
The Hunt's commentary format however would call for someone more in the mold of a John Walsh.
Obviously, Walsh's son Callahan, who I'm voting for, seems like the most likely person to take over at the moment, as he's become a lot more visible on cable and daytime talk shows the past few years.
Elizabeth Smart was often discussed as making a good host for AMW.
I'd also like to throw a name someone not as commonly discussed- Tamron Hall- a reporter who is already on the ID channel with the show "Deadline: Crime". Hall like Walsh has a tragic backstory in that her sister was murdered. But unlike Walsh's case, Hall's sister's murder is unfortunately still unsolved.
I realize I'm jumping the gun here, and we probably can't adequately answer this question until we see the new show, but figured just so it's here I'd start the discussion early.
P.S. I am not making this post because I want John Walsh to retire anytime soon. I personally hope he'll live to be 110 still chasing bad guys!
