From masslive.com:
STURBRIDGE - A quarter-century ago 10-year-old Holly Piirainen had walked a short distance from her grandmother's home to play with a neighbor's puppies. She was never seen again.
The child, who lived in Grafton but was vacationing with her father and other family members at her grandmother's cottage in Sturbridge, was abducted around noon in the area of Allen and South Shore roads on Aug. 5, 1993.
On the 25th anniversary of her death, her family and Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni is renewing their efforts to ask the public for any information they may have about her abduction and subsequent killing.
When Holly did not return, her family members started searching and then called police. A massive search was conducted in the nearby woods for the missing child by more than 80 police officers and volunteers. The searchers only found one of her sneakers on the side of the road.
On Oct. 23 Holly's remains were found by hunters in a wooded area off Five Bridge Road in Brimfield.
"The Piirainen family has been coping with this tragedy for 25 years. Along with Holly's family, I, members of my office, and the Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the case have never stopped investigating to bring justice to Holly and her family. We continue to ask members of the public who may have any information please contact us," Gulluni said in writing.
Police and Holly's family have put out a call asking for more information several times over the years, most recently on the 23rd anniversary of her death.
Over the years law enforcement agencies have amassed a number of possible suspects and gathered information about the homicide but have never been able to find her killer.
In 2013 State Police tried to gather evidence to connect convicted child serial killer Lewis L. Lent Jr. to her unsolved murder and others in Western Massachusetts.
In 2012 law enforcement put out a call asking for more information about David E. Pouliot, who was linked by forensic testing of evidence collected. Pouliot, who died in 2003, was never named in her death.
Holly was the daughter of Christina Harrington and Richard Piirainen. She also had two younger brothers.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney's Office (413) 505-5993. People can also use text-a-tip by texting the word CRIMES (2-7-4-6-3-7) and type the word SOLVE into the body of the message followed by the tip.

Thoughts? We've referenced Holly's case since it is a theory that it may be connected to the unsolved murder of Molly Bish, but I realized we never actually made a thread about the search for Holly's killer. As far as I can tell, only Molly's and not Holly's case has been aired a national crime show (Both AMW and Unsolved Mysteries as well as Disappeares) but please correct me if I'm mistaken. (Perhaps she was indirectly referenced in regards to Molly? I can't recall).
