From nbc4i.com (NBC Columbus (Ohio)):
COLUMBUS, OH (WCMH) - It’s been nearly two years since a man was shot to death in west Columbus during a home invasion. Now, Central Ohio Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that will close this case.
Joan Gresson talked to her oldest son, David Lee Hodge, on the phone every day.
“I was always talking to him and I miss talking to him,” Gresson said as she choked back tears.
On the evening of Oct. 27, 2016, Gresson picked Hodge up after work and drove him to his home on the 100 block of Columbian Avenue. She had no idea this would be the last time she would see him alive.
Shortly after 8:30pm, Columbus Police officers responded to a report of a break-in and shooting at Hodge’s address. When they arrived, they found Hodge on the stairs. He had been shot multiple times. Hodge was taken to Mount Carmel West Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigators say it appears the suspects broke into Hodge’s home through the windows and went to the second floor. Hodge and his roommate confronted the intruders and that’s when the gunshots rang out.
“He was shot on the stairs leading up to the second floor, so there is some suspicion that he may have known at least one of his assailants,” Central Ohio Crime Stoppers President Kristen McKinley said.
Police say the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, possibly a silver Nissan Rogue.
The loss has weighed heavily on Gresson, who is hoping someone will come forward with information that can close this case.
“This is my child and I’m never going to see him again,” she said. “I think someone needs to reach out. I need closure on this.”
Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to the arrest or indictment of the people responsible for Hodge’s death. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS(8477). You can also submit tips online at www.stopcrime.org or through the free P3 Tips app, available for iOS and Android devices. All tips are anonymous and calls are never recorded.
