The case was featured as a part of a special alert in the December 6, 1989 episode of Unsolved Mysteries, along with Jenny Bastian and Michella Welch, both of which have been solved.

Details: On the morning of January 7, 1980, twelve-year-old Carla Wright asked her mother for a ride to school. Unfortunately, she was unable to take her to school because she was on medication and had to get ready for a doctor's appointment. At 8AM, Carla left their Tacoma home and took a shortcut to Gray Junior High School. However, she never arrived and was never seen again.
That afternoon, Carla's mother reported her missing. Twelve days later, her body was found near the trail, hidden under a large piece of plastic. She had been raped and strangled to death. Her murder remains unsolved.
Suspects: Police suspect that convicted child killer David Fisher may be responsible for Carla's murder. However, he has yet to be located.
Results: Unsolved. David Fisher was arrested as a result of the broadcast. However, he was never connected to Carla's murder. More recently, police have considered convicted killer Guy Rasmussen a suspect. He knew Carla and another murdered girl, Angela Meeker. However, Rasmussen has never been charged in either case.
Thoughts? The segment indicated David Fisher as the possible suspect for the murders of Wright, Bastian and Welch. But it turns out Bastian and Welch were victims of separate killers.
