Most regulars on the forum know that I've mentioned in the past I grew up in New York City. But you don't need to be from there to know about the horrific tragedy that has made national news- the mistaken-identity gang killing of 15 year-old Lisandro Guzman-Feliz whose nickname was Junior. To recap in case you didn't know- Junior was brutally beaten and stabbed to death by a group of gang members (known as the Trinitarios) outside a Bronx bodega- all because of mistaken identity. (They had mistaken Junior for someone who appeared in a sex tape with one of the member's relative, a young man who looks like Junior can be seen rapping while the 15-year old girl is having sex).
Junior was described as just a regular good kid who just wanted to play video games etc.. and was part of the NYPD Explorer Program, which is a program dedicated to teenagers who are interested in a career in law enforcement.
Junior's death has sparked outrage, with people from NYC to elsewhere posting the now viral #JusticeForJunior hashtag.
The reason I have been mostly silent on the forum about his death is that his murder is technically solved but complicated- police believe they have all the people who attacked him, and those who orchestrated the hit, 12 people have been arrested so far, but every day they keep arresting new people and saying they won't rest until anyone who had anything to do with Junior's death is in custody. (Not to mention, the members are at the moment being tight lipped as to what role they or the other ones played).
So because of that, I didn't want to post a case in the Unsolved section called "Unknown Lisandro Guzman-Feliz Killers" since they are basically known, but the loose ends of the case aren't tied up yet either, which is why I decided to at least acknowledge Junior here in the off-topic forum since I couldn't let him go unmentioned.
Despite running this forum, I am usually against the death penalty (because of the possibility for innocent people to be executed), but this is one of the rare times that I wish New York still had it, as even death is too lenient a punishment for these piece of sh** idiot gang members who attacked an innocent teen and then sent an apology letter to his mom which to summarize basically said "sorry, we attacked the wrong guy, you have our condolences" like it was just someone who accidentally bumps into you on the street and goes "my bad."
F*** them, I hope they burn in hell, and I hope Junior gets the full justice he deserves.
