So this just broke within the last few minutes, but according to NHK (a Japanese news station) announced that Aum Shinrikyo (a doomsday cult) leader Shōkō Asahara has been executed by hanging. Asahara was responsible for the 1995 sarin gas attack in the Tokyo Subway, which killed 13 and injured 6,000, Thankfully an attack like that one hasn’t been repeated yet. It took Japan long enough to finally put this guy down, that attack alone, opens up Pandora’s box into the worst thing humanity can experience if gases/chemicals land in the hands of the wrong people. Also it’s pretty weird that Asahara was executed 23 years after the Sarin Gas Attack, which is how long an early 90s cold case fugitive stays on the run for. |
