From the Kansas City Star website (kansascity.com):
Kansas City police are seeking the public's help in locating a 22-year-old man who has eluded authorities for months since being charged in the 2016 shooting death of a woman during a drug deal.
On Tuesday, Kansas City police posted a tweet that homicide detectives were looking for Deric A. Canady of Kansas City as a "subject of interest" in a shooting death of Greican J. Davidson, 20, on Nov. 23, 2016, in the 5500 block of Forest Avenue.
After a friend of Davidson's identified Canady as the shooter, he was arrested June 20 and at some point released.
He was charged on Dec. 12 with second-degree murder in the killing. Bond was set at $250,000, according to court records.
Kansas City police and prosecutors on Tuesday did not answer questions about Canady.
In December, when asked about the timing of Canady's arrest, release and the charges filed against him, then-police spokeswoman Capt. Stacey Graves said: "After June, detectives were still investigating the case until recent charges."
According to court records, Davidson and a friend used Facebook and Snapchat to try to sell marijuana.
Canady and an accomplice allegedly responded to the message and directed Davidson and the friend to 56th Street and Forest Avenue to complete the sale.
Once there, the friend handed over the marijuana to Canady. Canady and his accomplice walked to their car but turned around and approached Davidson and her friend.
The friend said he thought Canady was going to pay them but instead started shooting at the vehicle. Several bullets struck the friend's car as they sped away.
The friend said he shot back at Canady and his accomplice as they drove away, according to court records.
Davidson was taken to Truman Medical Center but died later that night, according to authorities.
The friend said he thought he recognized Canady as the person who responded to the Snapchat message.
Investigators tracked Canady through Davidson's cellphone records. One of the last messages she received came from a cellphone associated with Canady, according to court records.
Canady was arrested on June 20 and taken to police headquarters. He refused to answer questions and requested to speak to an attorney.

Thoughts? I put 2017 as the wanted year since that is when the warrant was issued for Canady's arrest. Every month Kansas City Metro Crime Stoppers has a "Kansas City Most Paper" feature which lists the most wanted fugitives in the KC metropolitan area for that month. Based on that, we know Canady was at least still wanted as of June 1st, 2018: (I checked the Missouri court records which shows no movement since 2017 as of this posting date as well): www.crimestoppersweb.com/452/Pictures/KCMOST_ISSUE_198_2.pdf
P.S. Also for reference purposes Canady's date of birth is 3/11/1996.
