On December 8, 1979, retirees Tristan and Mary Kay Knight had stopped in El Paso, Texas on their cross-country trip while they had been buying and trading coins and other antiques. Authorities say it was that day when Jose Luis Huitron and an accomplice allegedly killed them inside their mobile during a robbery and then torched their mobile home.
The accomplice was sentenced to life imprisonment according to Newspapers.com, but Jose was last traced to San Jose, California before presumably fleeing to Mexico. Most of the stolen antiques were never recovered.
Based on crime location, it is advised to contact the El Paso Police Department at 915-832-4400 if you have any information on Jose Luis Huitron's whereabouts.

Thoughts? How I came across this case was that I was searching newspapers.com's new archived paper content out of El Paso, Texas for the unrelated case involving the Vasquez brothers wanted for six counts of murder in 1982. That brought me to a couple of articles on the local most wanted fugitives from 1986-1993.
As always now, when I come across an archived fugitive case from either news articles or an archived law enforcement site, I try to find a court records page that 100% confirms there is still an active warrant. Luckily, as of this posting date (6/20/2018), the El Paso County Texas Court Records page did confirm a "W" next to Jose Luis Huitron's case entry and there's been no court entry since an indictment was issued in 1981.
It should be noted that when it comes to fugitives wanted since the 1980s or the 1970s, it's rare to see one that would be in his/her 50s today since it's 2018 as of this post. The age makes me feel there's a good chance that Jose is still alive, there's just been no media attention on this manhunt in a very long time. That needs to change, starting with this forum post.
