(Above photo credit: khq.com) From the Grant County (Washington) Sheriff's Office website- Unsolved Cases section: UNSOLVED HOMICIDE, February 11, 2012 Victim: Esperanza Vicentè-Mestizo and her unborn child Age: 28 Cause of Death: Gunshot wounds Location: 500 block of Third Place, Mattawa Case information: Around 11 p.m. on Saturday February 11, 2012, Esperanza Vicentè-Mestizo was unloading groceries from her minivan at her apartment in the 500 block of Third Place in Mattawa. A man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt walked up to her and shot her several times with a handgun. The man then ran away on foot. Esperanza, 7-1/2 months pregnant and the mother of three children under age 12, died along with her unborn child. There is no obvious connection to gang or drug activity. All leads thus far have been followed and have not led to a suspect or motive.
