(Above photo credit: Vermont State Police website) From the Vermont State Police website- Unsolved Homicides section: Sweeney Pond, Glover, VT 22 year-old male Vermont State Police - Major Crime Unit Case number: 02B203174 Roger Jeffreys left from parent’s home in Kentucky sometime after July of 1984. He called them later to say he would be traveling to Canada. On 11/2/85 a body (John Doe) was found in a wooded area near Sweeney Pond in Glover, Vermont. In 2002 information was received indicating the body may be of missing person Roger Jeffreys. This was later confirmed. During the investigation detectives learned that there was an arrest warrant for Jeffreys at the time which is most likely why he fled the state of Kentucky. Jeffreys’ death was ruled a homicide and remains unsolved. If you have any information on this, or any other unsolved homicide, please contact Captain Trudeau at our Major Crime Unit. Tips may also be submitted anonymously at vsp.vermont.gov/tipsubmit, or by clicking the Tip Submit image, or by texting keyword VTIPS to 274637 (CRIMES). vsp.vermont.gov/unsolved/homicide/jeffreysThoughts? The above link has the aforementioned links to contact the major crimes unit and the tip submit image I put 1985 as the homicide year since that is what it is listed as on the Vermont State Police website. Whether Jeffreys was in trouble with the law or not, murder is never a justifiable offense and whoever killed him still deserves to be punished.
